It is a two-purpose Production Line with two parts. One is a steel slag production line with annual capacity of 300,000 million tons slag powder, and the other one is a GGBFS production line with annum capacity of 1.2 million tons GGBFS. The main grinding equipment is designed with 2 GRMS vertical roller mills and 1 steel slag ball mill. All of the technical operation can be controlled in DCS Room, which is the most advanced level technology in the world. Baosteel visited us for the A check in April, 2014. All the device and equipment including vertical mill, electric cabinet, accessories, etc. are all qualified as they required.

 III. Project Analysis
1. The project is a composite powder line with the maximum productivity and best equipment that Baosteel ever invested at present. It is an effective study on the reuse of industry waste discharged from steel plant. It also will be a national demonstration GGBFS Plant as soon as being put into use next year.
2. GRMS46.41 is known as the heart of this production line. It helps reduce power consumption by 20%- 30%. The GGBFS Braine Test can at 4200-4500cm²/g, which definitely meets customer’s particle fineness and size distribution requirements. They are ideal admixtures for a variety of Portland cements.
3. The steel slag grinding is combined with the process of iron removal from outside loop, which can pick out 1.5% ferruginous matters from steel slag tailings. The granulated steel slags thus can be in a very fine condition. The Braine test of the finished products is over 4500-5000cm2/g. The qualified activity is the best admixture option for the cement blending material and concrete.
4. off-Gas Emission and Noise Level Meet National Standards

Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBS) Production Line

Granulated Blast Furnace Slag is obtained by rapidly chilling (quenching) the molten ash from the furnace with the help of water. During this process, the slag gets fragmented and transformed into amorphous granules , The granulated slag is ground to desired fineness for producing GGBS.

Process Description
The stacked slag is packed and feed by the forklift trucks, then transported by belt conveyor. During transmission, the slag will pass through the iron separator and vibrating screen, then through the weighing equipment and elevator, finally come into the vertical roller mill. With the hot air form cowper stove, the slag after grinding, will come through the separator, while drying. Slag meets the fineness requirement will pass through the separator, then delivered by air blower and elevator, finally come to the storage silo.

II. Project Configurations

In 2009, we invested CNY 50 million to build the GGBFS plant demonstration and training base with capacity 600,000 t/a, the main equipment of which used the biggest self-made GRMS 46.41 vertical mill. The purpose of this plant is to let customer have a direct knowledge on GGBFS process and technology. After running 3 years, the project has recovered total cost of investment.
1. Magnetic Separators
A magnetic separator creates strong magnetic attractions with ferrous materials. It is commonly used to remove unwanted iron contaminants from cement mixtures as they are conveyed on a belt conveyor to the crusher and grinding mill. Separating iron from mixtures avoids the risk of long, big iron parts tearing open the conveyor belt, ensures the proper functioning of the crusher and grinder, and improves the grade of raw material. In addition, recovering ferrous metals from raw materials also comes with financial benefits.
Our permanent magnet separator for pipeline is an automatic high-performing magnetic separation device. It is often utilized in cement, electricity, ceramics, bricks and tiles, chemical engineering, food, glass, metallurgy, and steel industries, as a separator of choice when it comes to purifying materials and ensuring the operational safety of the downstream equipment on the production line.
2. Dust Collectors
Air-borne powder enters the rotary separator at its bottom, where guide vanes force the air to change from an upward flow to a tangential flow. The separator rotor tends to rotate along with the air flow without causing any drag to the stream. Hence, a centrifugal zone is formed between the guide vanes and separator vanes, where powder is separated from air.
During separation, larger particles are thrown outward by rotary force of the separator rotor, falling to the bottom of separator due to the force of gravity. After exiting the centrifugal zone, these oversize particles are collected in a conical hopper and returned to the roller mill for further grinding. Finer particles are brought through the center of the separator chamber and out the top, where they are collected by a dust collector.
3. Central Control System
The central control system is a critical part of the production line. It is comprised of the Distributed Control System, and the Closed-Circuit Television which contains 6 monitor circuits.
In a distributed control system, or DCS for short, there are a number of computers, each controlling a separate circuit. Information from each computer can be collected together and obtained by the central controller, which facilitates centralized management and control. Compared with the computer controlled multilevel system, DCS has the advantages of optimized, flexible layout, low cost, high reliability, maximum accessibility, great flexibility, easy maintenance, good compatibility, and comprehensive functionalities.
The closed-circuit television, or CCTV, records images of different production sites, stores them in a hard drive, and sends real-time information to the control center. Authorized staff can view the present state of each production site. In case of emergency, they are able to send men to the site. This prevents potential severe accidents from occurring. III. Project Analysis
